Company description:: Keen.com is an example of a website that refers clients to "psychic" advisors which it does not screen for skill, integrity, moral or ethical competence and whom it protects itself and the advisors from culpability by concealing their identity. You can't have it both ways. Clearly intuitive ability does not automatically come pre-packaged with integrity, depth, wisdom, altruism or detachment from the money. Keen is a glaring example of this fact. Many of the "advisors" who work on the Keen website do have some perceptive ability. It is almost never informed by moral, ethical or any of the usual professional standards or psychological skill. Extensive experience with these advisors by many indicates their skill is almost always:
1) very limited yet routinely represented as comprehensive and of much more reliable nature than it actually is, thus amounting to fraudulent advertising
2) systematically used to deceive or mislead, utilizing perceptive skill to manipulate people to believe untrue statements and baseless predictions.
These misleading consultations very frequently lead to and tacitly encourage repeated consultations in anticipation of imaginary events which always area) some date in the distant futureb) more often than not subject to repeated delays and postponements when they don't occur as predicted, which they don'tc) related to deeply emotional aspect of callers livesThese advisors appear to be highly skilled at a superficial perception of emotional and romantic circumstances of clients lives; that perception is used systematically to manipulate callers. This is especially heinous as it involves focused use of acute perception to manipulate the emotions and actions of clients. In extensive communicating with other clients I found there was a large number recounting the same story of being deceived and defrauded by Keen advisors most often in matters of love and relationship. One Keen advisor told me she had received numerous emails from other keen advisors who were laughing amongst themselves and comparing notes about deceiving callers.
At issue here is not whether these people can know some things about others. Clearly some can. The issue is quality, depth, and competence to counsel others who inquire about psychologically important questions, There are many people who have been damaged, mislead about important matters and drained of large amounts of monetary and emotional resources by incompetent psychics who read enough to engage the interest of distressed and emotionally needy callers but who are ultimately incompetent. It is no different than and just as critical as physicians and psychologists since some of these people do have entre into the psyches of others. Since precious few have proper professional training and ethical competence they are more dangerous than helpful and constitute a public health problem.
